The Executive Branch

SFA

The executive branch of the Student Government Association of Stephen F. Austin State University consists of the Student Body President and Vice-President and executive cabinet. The President and Vice-President serve as the principle representatives of SGA to the student body, university administration, community, and other institutions.

The executive officers are responsible for serving as the liaison to the administration in ensuring SGA legislation is heard and approved by university administration. Additionally, the Student Body President meets directly with the Board of Regents at every meeting to voice the concerns and needs of the student body directly to the highest authority of the SFA campus.

Election of Executive Officers

The Student Body President and Vice President are elected in the Spring Semester general elections as defined by the SGA Constitution and Election Code. Any student, having completed two consecutive long-semesters, may run for executive office. They must also meet minimum enrolled hours and GPA requirements like any other SGA member. For more information please review the SGA Constitution and Election Code or contact the SGA Office or Office of Student Life.

Executive Cabinet

The executive branch may also solicit membership from other students to serve as assistants or cabinet members. These positions are determined at the discretion of the Student Body President and all appointments must be approved by a two-thirds vote of the Senate. The size and function of the executive cabinet changes on an annual basis determined by needs of the current executive officers.
